On August 28-29, 2024, Ibn Khaldun University Bogor successfully organized the 2nd Ibn Khaldun International Conference on Applied and Social Sciences (IICASS) in a hybrid format at Swiss-Belcourt Hotel, Bogor. With the theme “Navigating Vibecession: Safeguarding Against the Risks of False National Identities in Economics, Education, Governance, and Civil Society”, the conference highlighted various strategic issues in economics, education, governance, and civil society in a global context.

Led by Dr. Widyasari, M.Pd, a lecturer at the Graduate School of Ibn Khaldun University Bogor as the chairperson of the event, the conference successfully gathered researchers, lecturers, teachers, industrial communities, and MSME players to present their research results and innovative ideas. During its two-day implementation, the event was attended by 67 presenters who presented their research offline and online. To facilitate in-depth discussions, the presenters were divided into five separate rooms guided by a session chair and supported by technical operators.

The discussion on Vibecession, which is the phenomenon of national policies being distorted by global dynamics, drew the attention of the participants. In the sessions, speakers provided a critical look at the impact of this phenomenon in economics, education, and governance.

The conference was attended by 21 offline presenters and 46 online presenters, creating a productive discussion space that is expected to result in sustainable research collaborations. The 2nd IICASS 2024 also made a major contribution in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in strengthening an inclusive and sustainable civil society.
